Wedge (2)

Ironbridge.

Comments:
It's difficult to define but the colour has some very special ability to tug at some part of the brain and spread a feeling of well-being. The shapes within the composition are an effective abstract, allowing any amount of visual juggling. I don't criticize the sunlight there but it would be interesting to see without direct light. Perhaps two very different pictures. The sunlight, whilst rooting the sculpture in reality, does serve to help the subtle colour distribution.

I'm not seeing much other than colour here. And as you might guess, colour isn't my favourite subject for a picture.

John says sculpture. Is it? Is that just John having been to Ironbridge? I'm afraid that I haven't, despite having visited Shrewsbury several times in recent years.

I think that I need some more visual clues.....

Looking at this over time it never crossed my mind to ask, or even wonder, what it actually is. I think it works well as an abstract and I enjoy the colour and the form of the thing.

John hasn't been to Ironbridge but follows Rex's time there!

This was from our Monday morning in a closed sculpture park. This is "Wedge and Columns II" by Roy Kitchen (I think!). It was Roy's widow who let us in to the park.

It was the abstraction that appealed to me. The play of light which changed minute by minute due to clouds and foliage added a non sculpture dimension. The extra 'line/edge' from the sun was also a feature that I liked.

It reminds me of those Silk Cut adverts from years ago. I have no idea of what it is a photograph of but that adds to the mystery. I have strength on the left and delicate shadows on the right. The colours are extremely delicate too.
