Clichéd Boat Stones & Gull

Comments:
The sky is so blue. Great depth of field. The gull could be larger.

Cliched comment.

:-)

Is this the replacement for the E-1?

An unsuitable title - I don't see a cliche here and the gull holds its own! The composition capitalises on the viewpoint yielding bands of stone, sea and sky all straddled by the boat and its chain. The cover on the boat indicates that it is probably stored here during the winter although that must be a bit risky in storms. Is E for Exmouth, Eastbourne or Eype, or somewhere totally different?

Well spotted

E is for Buldleigh Salterton!

(Exmouth)

All those shingle beaches from Portland Bill to Exmouth (where the sand starts).

Excellent exposure and DOF on this Rex. Lots of detail held in the shadows and no over exposure in those clouds. That gull is also pretty much frozen in the sky so I would guess that you got nothing to worry about with respect to having captured a moment in time.

Scores very high in the technical merit department and I would have been extrememly pleased to have taken it.

The subject matter speaks for itself. There's a reason why it's a cliched subject ... it's extremely attractive.

That boat really jumps out at you. It's interesting how the clouds seem like they eminate from the boat and the small gull then drags you back in. The shadow mid-left needs some work. Though perhaps lightening up would then make the dynamics of the picture change completely. As it stands at the moment, this solid section gives the boat some stability.
