....and leaves

Last night was spent experimenting with a shot of the dining room table in virtual darkness
lit only by moonlight and the haze of distant street lights. A one hundred and twenty second
exposure. During that time I carefully entered and exited the frame, placing myself here
and there. I imagined the ghostly apparition, a spectre of a half remembered dinner party.
What happened that night? What became of those people? Pffft. So much for experimentation.
So here are some leaves taken this afternoon in Ashridge forest.
Comments:
I empathize strongly with this. Every year I am drawn to shots like this and am due to go down to the beech wood lining the River Teifi in the next day or two. One has to ask - is Autumn so joyous?! My only quibble would be that the background could have done with being slightly darker but the overall shapes of twigs and portrayal of the leaves comes across well.
Sorry about the experiment - try again!

Beechwoods. One of the few things I miss about Southern England. Sitka just doesn't do the same thing.
JohnJo: I like the story. I wonder when, pffft, those leaves will disappear too.
I think that I was brought to task by Rex the last time I said this, but I find out of focus things in the foreground really distracting. My mind latches onto them and I have great difficulty seeing beyond them.
I quite like this. The pattern created by those soft colors, the black of the branches and the muted background really appeals to me. It's not a photo I can find a lot to say about, but I've been enjoying looking at it.
Matt, I know exactly what you mean. I'm not sure much can be said about it that hasn't already been said. What I can say is that the Ashridge trip was dissapointing photographically. The sky had its heaviest filter on. I hunted around and this was the best I came up with from the hour or so I was there.
So much of this is very pleasing to the eye. The top left corner spoils the total picture enjoyment - the out-of-focus leaves add nothing to this shot. A square crop? Interesting how the branches thin out from bottom to top which contrasts well with the strong downward flow of the two thickest branches.
I can remember the joyous feeling that I had when I first opened this image and the smile it brought to my face.
That feeling has waned a bit, for example I never noticed the OoF leaves until I read the comments, now I cannot get back to the original vision. Then that bright leaf in the OoF area started to bug me.
However overall I still get a good feeling looking at this image, it captures this time of year wonderfully.
Thanks for all the comments on this image. I think I am coming around on the oof leaves in the foreground. That’s useful advice so thanks again.
