Hurst Stairs

Comments:
There are obvious things to like here: colour, wall/concrete material decay and light across the texture (even if it is a pity that the lower half is unlit). But the main feature is so strong and so symmetrical that I keep being knocked back: it's almost like an electric shock. Also the wooden former strikes a discordant aesthetic note without any obvious message. I may be oddball but I'm not being fully engaged even if I admire the attention to detail.
I actually like the different light in the lower left side of the image. Lots of texture from the different materials, which is great. I particularly like the rust sandwich. The thing that really does grab me here is the three dimensional strength that it has. Those stairs, enhanced by the crisply lit side edge, jump out.
This shot makes me think of a "Stairs to the Roof," a rough draft of Tenessee Williams' Glass Menagerie, which is odd because I had always seen those stairs as being metal. It's strange how mental association works.
In any event, I think the textures are the strongest aspect of this photo. The spidery cracks in the bottom right corner are particularly intriguing.
You might think or darkening the area beneath the stiars.
