1432

Meiji Jingu, Tokyo.

Comments:
1432 - another one of these file name titles......oh, no, wait a moment.

I'm seeing these gates almost as cartoon devices. Are they capable of independent action. Are they going to start flexing and talking. Is Pixar pulling their strings? Perhaps a gate ballet sequence is about to start.

Ready for action, incipient crowd control. Regimented fence.

The first thought I had was that these are in the wrong order, in the country that invented 5S, they really should be 4321.

Is it an optical illusion? They seem each to be smaller towards the back and the perspective fall off greater than one might expect. That's what occupies me almost fully when looking at this. They all sit on that metal plate and it is a pity that it is cut off bottom right. Although there are hints of interference pattern in the verticals, this is really about pulling out an intriguing piece of city real estate. The 1,4,3,2 isn't a head turner!

I think this image is dying to go square.

All I can think is that I want them in the right order. Or are they already in the right order? 1432 - Luigi Pulci Italian poet died (according to wikipedia). The numbers make me ask questions, though I can't quite relate to the main subjects of the gates.

Thanks for your thoughts. As soon as I saw the order of the numbers the picture took shape. By showing more of the right-hand side of the gates you'd be able to work out how they fit together to close the road - they're all free standing.
