More Bernera

Comments:
I like this a lot because it is simple, it has strong textures and the curves are a delight.
There are also many stories I can create to fit the tracks.
It is really good.
In a perfect world I'd have liked a link from the top curves to the bottom straight tracks.
Track for a slingshot space probe to a distant object in the solar system. Ephemeral, but solid long enough to be captured. But cars should be kept off beaches!
Rex: thanks :-)
John E: a single track vehicle I think, not a car. Bernera is a mixed use sort of place. I am ambivalent about the way we humans use Bernera, but I don't think it is the complete disaster that I thought it was when I first saw it.
Auspicious - I stand corrected but you get my point! Bernera may be able to absorb that sort of activity but where it is allowed in Wales it just makes too much of an impact. It is a bit like allowing skidoos to roar up and down just in front of the beach. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are more attractive and silent (and eco-friendly)!
what do I see here?
two eyebrows and a squiggly nose?
sand circles? (crop circles for the aquatically minded?)
There's so much texture at play here and many objects to be made. I too, like this very much.
"sand circles? (crop circles for the aquatically minded?)"
This reminds me of a crop circle shot that recently ran in NG.
I'm curious about those mountains in the distance. My eye keeps wandering back to them.
Matt: if you go to:
http://maps.google.co.uk/
and type bernera iv40 you get to the beach. Zoom out and you can see the Sound. If you switch to Satellite view you can get an idea of the terrain. Photos from that location over-emphasise those two bits of land. They are just pleasant hills. The land on the right is on the Isle of Skye. There are serious mountains on Skye, but they don't quite come down to the sea here. The land on the left is on the mainland and that hill slowly builds to a serious mountain called Beinn Sgritheall (and no, I don't know how to pronounce it!). We've had visitors stay with us just because of Beinn Sgritheall. It is on the Munro baggers circuit and that is a whole other sub-culture.
akikana and matt: crop circles is what I was thinking when I shot this.
