Sound of Sleat

Comments:
From the bottom of the frame all lines lead to the pinacle of the middle rock. The mountains and clouds in the distance create a good top boundary. The flow of the tide moves me left to right. But...
... that small gap between the top of the middle rock and the bottom of the distant mountain is troubling me. I'm in favour of no gap to create a fulcrum for the whole scene.
Whereas I might want the gap widened a bit! The best bit of the photo for me is the subtle light on the hills and shore across the loch and the clouds. The foreground doesn't satisfy quite as much. It provides a textural variation to the smoother distance and, further, the water is less affected by the wind, but it may be that the square format limits the view close to. Maybe it is that the pinnacle of the rock in the centre is rather aggressive.
Five minutes later... . I think that I have reconciled myself to the points made above and now find the finger of rock fits more comfortably into the whole. But I certainly wouldn't want to close the gap any further.
I would not have noticed the pinnacle of the rock and its relationship to the horizon if it had not been mentioned.
The strength of the image for me is the diagonal created by the rock.
This image is further evidence that I need a new main monitor!
I'm not sure the square format suits the image. It feels too balanced. The three points of rock balance out on the bottom, while, as Guy pointed out, the horizon almost balances on the tip of the central rock.
