A Cut above the Rest

This field had lots of photographers in it. The farmer should have been there with a collecting tin.
Comments:
Do I remember correctly that you took photos here once a year or two ago? Well done for not getting any photographer in picture! This is a good take on the scene: the two foreground flower heads set off the field very well. Good exposure. The little cloud set curls nicely round the top too! I also like the way the distant hedge and trees mark this as being England and not, say, a Mediterranean country.
The Australian phrase about cutting down tall poppies springs to mind.
Contrary to what John E has said, I think that this might have been a good photo with lots of photographers visible (other than that I echo what he has said about the composition).
The bit that bothers me is the interaction between the taller sunflowers and the hedge on the right.
The light through the topmost petals is particularly striking.
I'm a great fan of empty space but there is so much filling three quarters of this picture that the top left needs an addition. Waiting for the wispy clouds to move further across the sky would work. The greens look a little dull compared to the brilliant yellow and blues. Perhaps also a little fill flash to give it some more pop.
"Waiting for the wispy clouds to move further across the sky would work."
That would have done it, although then it might have been more apparent that the sky is a little washed out in that quadrant.
The light on the top petals is quite beautiful though.
