Castle of Dreams
Comments:
This feels like you are trying to tell a story, but sadly, for me, or you, or both of us, I'm not getting the point. Sorry.
This one is technically well done John (as far as I can see from the small image here) which is an achievement. I know how time consuming and frustrating this kind of work can be, which is why I tend not to do it. It does have a certain "Athena" flavour about it (those high street poster shops). I think it's simply the subject matter that makes me feel this way; perhaps a darker subject matter given similar treatment would draw out more from the viewer?
Of course, if this is about a particular story then my comments on subject are of no use to you.
John L., I think I liked "Destiny" better, which perhaps proves the point I think Colin was trying to make in a disccussion following that particular work; art like this either connects with the view or it doesn't. When it doesn't, it's just confusing.
I'd not discourage you from continuing to pursue this; it's interesting even if I don't get it.
This is going to depend heavily on the technical achievement in the making of it. At the moment it is still relatively easy to unpick the component parts. I can connect inasmuch that you are attempting to create a fantasy of sorts. What prevents me personally from enjoying it more is the figure of the angel - it brings in a religious element that is at odds with the title. Maybe a dove could do better than the shuttle programme!
