Street photography

Matt's comments with his last picture made me realise how little street photography I now do. But then, I suppose if I was still living in Sydney or London I wouldn't be doing so much landscape stuff.

Anyway, this was a street photography opportunity earlier this month. I'm not thinking this is great art, but I am smiling.

Comments:
I'm smiling too but quite possibly not for the same reason as you. For some reason I can't help drawing parallels between the scene and a certain human behaviour known in rock and roll circles as "partying and then trashing the joint". The young deer (stag?) has had a skin full, done the place over and then dropped to the ground on the way out. Stag party.......I should say so.

I think humor has been underated as an artistic value. Anyone can take a picture of something horrible if only they have the guts to put themselves in a horrible place. It takes incredible insight to recognize something funny and communicate it to others.

Funny shot.

I like John-Jo's analogy. My first thought was: here is all this human activity (well, quite a lot for Scotland anyway!) but the deer will be here for ever. Unwittingly, I commented on this on the Auspicious website, not knowing that he had posted it here.

To quote - "This is splendid. I've just finished reading a National Geographic article about Alaska (not my usual fare but Jana buys it on impulse now an then) and this reminds me of the fact that caribou wander throught the middle of oil field drilling sites if that is where their migration route takes them. I like the indications of building through the materials and then that 'monarchical' figure, quite aloof. All tranquil before the midges come to move everyone on."

I was going to try and write different words but they wouldn't come. Quite a priceless shot really.

In some ways, this reminds me of the bottle picture posted a little while ago. The conrast between man's destruction of nature and the environment. However, I can still see the humourous quality of the picture and like Jonjo's analogy.

I'm torn now. This image has a familiarity about it...something akin to a photograph of the homeless.

coming late it seems I can only echo previous said.
makes me smiling too. what happened here? partying and trashing? *lol*
who was partying? the deer? is it real rubbish? or just construction material?
anyway I like the thought of the partying deer. do someone know some of the
'Jägermeister' (german herb-flavouverd liqueur) ads? reminds me on it :)
and yes now that you're saying it: I miss more humor in photography...

I love the different interpretations.

Everything at the bottom leads me in to the beast at the water. The fact that he/she has her back to the mess sums up the tone of the pciture to me. People's waster is another person's problem. Interesting work.

Working through the backlog of images has made me aware of the similarity of views in the group. I am coming to the conclusion that the method of selecting members for this 'blog' may have produced this similarity.

My impression of this image revolved around the incongruity of the deer and the mayhem behind him, a theme picked up by others. I do like the stag party proposal!
