musa

back lighted banana leaf

Comments:
That's an incredible shade of green. Excellent use of color and texture, and I like how the DOF falls off at the top of the image.

I wonder where you find these banana leave - do you have one growing at home or is it a local hot-house? Lovely sheen on the right-hand side. The brown and yellow make this one more interesting than plain green.

Very vivid colours which are very striking. The framing and composition adds to the impact. in a gallery, it is the picture that would take your eye.

thanks. its an old shot taken with an 'simple' P&S IXUS 400.
love this green especially when back lighted. have hundreds of shots of it.
it was a homegrown banana plant. unfortunately the last 'cold' and less sunny years ruined it :(
four framed 30x40cm prints side by side hanging in our hall since a few years and still not tired of viewing them.

Another shot I like very much. It could almost be a feather from the tail of an exotic bird. Clearly, the back lighting pulls this one out from the ordinary.

The depth of field blur creates an effect like motion. I can almost feel the hot breeze.

I can see why you don't tire of them on the wall. There is lots to look at and this goes well beyond the usual 'colours and lighting' shot.

I highly rate Abstraction, this appeals less. I am bothered by the DoF possibly because I cannot stop myself comparing with Abstraction, which I know I shouldn't.

I'm trying to make out objects, shapes or people's faces in the black marks. I could also hazard that this is a photograph of a toxic waterfall. Delightful.
