chasing shadows

Clearly, a different kind of photo to '1.3 Mw'. The hill called Moelfre from the North side. The three wind turbines on the site all lie on the South-facing slopes.
Comments:
First thought: land shark! Apart from that bit of humor, it's an interesting photo, but I think there could be a bit more contrast between the sky and the ground.
great shot. a needle sewing a giant piece of cloth...
love how the wing echoes the direction of the line between the fields.
Now this begins to use these machines. I think you could profitably play around with the tones, but as to composition this is the business.
When I see shots like this, I immediately think of scenes from the War of the Worlds. There is a mystery about this giant mechanical thing appearing over the hill. It is not apparant what it is until I read for the description. Simple picture but one that makes you think.
An excellent photograph depicting accidental modern art. I can imagine the blade as a giant sculpture in iron or concrete making some statement about one thing or another that everyone pretends to understand but really makes no sense at all. As a narrative on that this photograph is sublime. “Nope, it’s a working machine that has a use and that STILL looks pretty funky out there poking over that hill”. Knowing what it is, the scale really works here. The hill is high, the machine is massive, that walk is long. Great.
The fence through the middle leads me up the hill. The fin makes me want to see whats over the other side. Great texture in the hillside cloth. I think there needs to be more contrast between the fin and the hillside. As is it blends in too smoothly. But the picture is such an unusual perspective it works for me.
Thanks for the comments. It is for shots like this that I finally went ahead and bought a telephoto lens.
As I have been working through the backlog of images this image has been there like the tempting morsel you leave on your plate until last. I haven't left it till last as I'm a bit methodical and this is next.
This image appeals to me in many ways.
It is B&W and monochromatic images seem to please me.
It is simple in it's composition and that is another feature of images I like.
The Z in the composition created by the top of the hill the drop of the diagonal hedge and the horizontal boundary is another feature of images that gets to me.
The diagonal hedge leads up to the blade as an echo of nature and the man made.
The sky is dramatic.
And finally the piste de resistance is the opportunity to pull John's leg because that blade appears to be stationary!
Did I say I like this image?
Thanks for the leg pull Rex! In all seriousness, I think that stationary is appropriate here, whereas in '1.3Mw' some blur would have worked. I like your itemisation of things that you noticed - all that attracted me at the time.
