Cry Freedom

This is a vert poignant picture for me. I have been lucky enough to see gorillas in the wildand it breaks my heart to see them in cages. The hand on the cage seems to say 'Let me go'. I wanted to include the eyes, OOF but visable.

Comments:
You've managed to put your message across very effectively. The hand is obvious, because of place and colour. This message is clear enough. Then the rest of the picture unfolds to support it. Well done.

This image only contains the essentials required to convey it’s message. Nothing more and nothing less is required.

Superb, evocative, tearful..........

I would try and get as much detail as possible out of the eyes. Even a slight catch-light would give this gorilla a personality. With a personality the cruelty of its situation becomes more abhorent. Its limp grip on the bars adds further to this pathetic sight. Strong work that derserves a much wider audience.

(Being called Guy I have a certain liking for gorillas)

Powerful without being too sentimental. I can't make up my mind about Akikana's thoughts on the eyes: but would probably settle with this version. This is a good case for mixing colour with b/w. Maybe it also serves as an image for more than gorillas.

The message comes across very well. The hand of a single gorilla holding onto the side of its cage...its meaning is clear.

I've been trying to think of an alternative interpretation of the image (not that it needs one) just to mix it up a bit, but that's difficult to do.

Perhaps the cage is not the gorillas home. Maybe a cage for transportation. Maybe you were in the cage and he was rattling it for you? Nope. It says what it says.

powerful image. haven't seen gorillas in the wildland yet but it always breaks my heart to see such pride creatures in cages, too.
like the choosen DOF keeping the focus on the hand of the arrested creature while its eyes are still recognizable even in the blurness.
yes the message is undisputed to me.
