La Rosaleda

La Rosaleda is a thin park, a sort of no-man's land, on the Western side of Madrid where the teleferico carries you out into the heathland park called Casa de Campo.

Comments:
At first I thought 'great photo except for the leaves in the top left', then I decided that they were an addition. Then I thought 'great shot except for the whatever bulging into the lower right frame', but I changed my mind and decided that it was a nice mystery - was it the missing third concrete block? And then I thought 'great shot except that it needs more room to breathe down the left hand edge', but then I decided I liked the way that the forward bench brought the line back into the corner. I guess that leaves me with 'great shot'.

Actually, I think this is one of the best photos I've seen for a while. I like this in all its parts - unlike your cow and mud picture, for example, which I appreciated for certain of its features but not for others. It has all the compositional elements and ambiguities of the other recent posts but it also has more. It is complete.

Thanks for that. The bulge lower right belongs to the leaves (needles)!

I like the way the various items have been arranged. They seem to form an interesting line. Even the figures with the dog are in the right place. Some people might query that they have lost their heads but, in this case, I tend to see them as shapes and, as such, in keeping with the purpose of the picture.

sorry seems I'm the one with 'the lost heads' comment ;). yes there are some interesting lines in this image. and I like them very much. but I'm sure a bit more space between bench and image border would work better for me. also without the leaves in the top left... guess I would find it more balanced...

Thanks John.

I understand your thoughts Michael but remain feeling fairly comfortable about it! Which must be good!

This creates the impression of foreboding in me. A dark foreground leading to a dark background.

The converging lines generated by the benches and blocks leads me through the image to the background.

The couple walking into the image (with dog) add a bit of balance to the image.
