Framed

I just like the idea of using the horizon, the pole and it's shadow as a frame.
Comments:
I don't really see the frame (not that keen on them either!) but am gripped by the picture as a whole. The couple with a dog look as though they're leaning into the wind and yet the shadow is steady (and points them on): the ripples in the sand further accentuate the impression of wind. Then one is left with the question as to why a post is painted half in white and half in black and stuck in the beach. Finally the colouring lends a restful feel despite the evidence of the wind. Excellent shot.
Our first photsoc competition is 'shapes and shadows': I'm tempted to nick this!!
like the frame idea but think it looks somehow unbalanced. maybe its the open right side. did u also took a image with the pole towering a bit into the sky? would be interesting to see such a version.
I only took the picture with the pole top at the horizon. I had locked that idea in my head and that was what I wanted to do.
I probably should have explored other ideas.
I noticed that the horizon was being held up by the pole before I read your comment and thought it strange. I did not, therefore, see the frame effect you were after. Probably because of the right hand side and partly because there is nothing really of interest being framed. The figures are too small. I would be very impressed with a judge who saw the effect you were after
I didn't see the framing effect either. I find that there isn't enough for my eye to do in this shot. Also the black speck on the waterline (another person?) draws me away from the leaning couple.
I like the foreground textures and patterns and the colour palette.
