dynamic range problem

I have now consolidated the two images from previously into one. This is not billed as a great photo: I have put it up as a test both to see what different size files look like and to check the background.

Comments:
John, haven't seen the previous two posted images so I can't judge any possible improvement. anyway I like what I see here. an ordinary scenery with fine lightning, shadows and contrast. hope my 'test image' will be as well as yours :)

John,

Regardless of the technical stuff this is a super picture. And now you've got comments you are going to have to leave it here!

The subject matter suggests something like conservatism or tranquility, but the composition is unrestful. My eye keeps catching the line of the handle which should lead it back down into the picture but doesn't. It just ends. I like the contrast that this gives.

Thanks for the comments! This is an energy-saving device: we keep the kettle on the wood-burner (burning 24 hours a day - ticking over at night) all winter and put the hot water into an electric kettle to reach boiling. This is a new kettle as the previous stainless steel one (bought in Chile) sprang a leak. Yes it is a traditional design (I preferred the stainless steel, more streamlined design) and I am not sure that I like the white on black but it is a visual novelty - hence the photo!
